An escort is an independent contractor for social company or sexual services that are provided outside of an etablishment. Escort services are also named outcall. Outcall means that a customer will usually call an escort by phone asking her to come out of her home or agency to meet him in a place of his choice. This place is usually a private residence or a hotel. Independent escorts advertise in local newpapers in the classifieds section or they operate web sites that are listed on escort directories and online ads.

Besides working as independent escorts, female prostitutes may also work for escort agencies that will advertise them on web sites or in print media. In return they will share the financial reward that is paid by a customer. Some escorts from escort agencies will try to solicit for an additional tip from customers.
